General Rules & Regulations

  1. NO SMOKING IN THE BARNS (ROTUNDA), BLEACHERS OR ENTRY BOOTH!!

  2. All still exhibits intended to compete for premium must be on the Secretary books and be on exhibition in their proper places by 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

  3. No still entries will be accepted into the fair after the entry day deadline of Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 7 p.m. Livestock coming in later must be approved by a superintendent prior to the fair. There will be no exceptions to the rule.

  4. All open class exhibitors must obtain their exhibitor’s number from the Secretary’s office before entering exhibits. 4-H Club members will obtain their exhibitor’s number through Carrie Nelson, 906—284—0095.

  5. Exhibitors must be Iron County residents or active Iron County 4-H members unless specified, i.e. Open Horse.

  6. Exhibitors must be AMATEURS ONLY unless stated differently.

  7. Advanced entry forms will be required for all 4-H entries.

  8. No entry fee is required of exhibitors unless otherwise stated.

  9. All persons renting or leasing booths or grounds for show, or other special privileges, shall be required to apply in advance and no refund will be allowed except by vote of the Board of Directors. THIS RULE MUST BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO.

  10. The gate will be open at 9 a.m. each day, at which time all officers and employees should be at their posts of duty.

  11. All animals must be entered in the owner’s name, but may be shown by a different individual (open class only).

  12. No article or animal may be entered in more than one class or be entitled to more than one premium, except in sweepstakes or collection of articles, except in livestock in group classes and livestock in club classes.

  13. All products of the soil must be entered in the name of the producer of such products. There shall not be more than one exhibit in each entry from any one farm in farm crops, unless there is a separate project, such as 4-H Clubs.

  14. After arrival at the Fairgrounds, all entries are under the supervision and control of the Fair officials and the Superintendents of the various departments.

  15. All reasonable care will be taken by the Fair Committee to provide against loss or injury to exhibits, but they will not be responsible for same.

  16. Exhibits will be released from 4 TO 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2023. EXHIBITS REMOVED BEFORE RELEASE TIME SHALL FORFEIT PREMIUM. EXCEPTION: Draft horses and ponies may be removed from the Iron County Fair to compete in State competition for pull provided they are returned by 10 a.m. on the following day, or forfeit premium for County Fair.

  17. All exhibits not called for before noon on the day following the last day of the Fair shall be forfeited to the Fair.

  18. There will be no premiums paid to exhibitors on special exhibits other than those listed in the fair book.

  19. As we have a certain amount of money appropriated for the 2023 Fair, if there is not enough money to pay the premiums listed in this book plus expenses, the premiums will be pro—rated back on the premium list.

  20. Premiums will be listed in order of standing: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc., in open class and A, B, C, in 4-H. Every worthy 4-H article will receive A, B, C except “cloverbuds” who will receive a participation ribbon only. Educational/demonstration projects are open to youth 5—19 as of January 1 of current year.

  21. All premium checks must be cashed within 90 days of check date.

  22. All protests as to awards must be made to the Secretary before noon of the last day of the Fair. Any protest to MDA must be made within 45 days of initial complaint.
